Whitney's spiritual direction practice invites embodied listening using tools from her various trainings and her background as a yoga teacher. She longs to hold safe space for others - in body, mind, and spirit and is committed to offering a ministry of love, justice, and service as a Deaconess.
What is Spiritual Direction?
The art of holy listening through spiritual direction is not a new trend, fad, or phase. Spiritual direction is an ancient and respected practice of the presence of God, one that has greatly impacted Whitney's journey for over a decade. It is learning to seek the guidance and presence of God in every part of our lives. Spiritual Direction is companionship on the faith journey of everyday life. It is the process of accompanying people on a spiritual journey and using their whole self to listen - breath, body, and spirit.
Setting time aside for this type of embodied soul care can help us grow closer to God, learn how to live in peace with ourselves and others, and embrace who God made each of us to be - physically, mentally and spiritually.
Spiritual directors are trained spiritual companions for people seeking to recognize God’s work in the world. In the Christian tradition, they often assist to discern the movement of the Holy Spirit. They have been trained to be “holy listeners” guiding serious seekers in their quest for a deeper life in the Spirit. Whitney's spiritual direction practice is ecumenical in nature and invites embodied listening using tools from her various trainings such as breath work, yoga postures, and energy work.
