Whitney is a soul care practitioner helping others reach their fullest human potential as they explore the gift of God’s peace. She is the author of Holy Listening with Breath, Body, and the Spirit and Fully Human Fully Divine: An Advent Devotional for the Whole Self. Whitney is passionate about embodied spirituality and committed to love, justice, and service as a Deaconess in the United Methodist Church.
As Founder of Exploring Peace Ministries, Whitney hosts a free prayer and meditation podcast, offers contemplative retreats, ecumenical spiritual direction sessions, as well as yoga and meditation workshops and classes.
Whitney began practicing yoga as part of her recovery after stroke and brain surgery in 2005. She was hesitant a yoga practice could ease her chronic pain. Needless to say, she was wrong. Embracing the practices of yoga and meditation have been foundational for her healing journey and her soul care work today.
Before completing her first yoga teacher training, Whitney pursued the two-year Professional Certification in Spiritual Formation (CSF) with practicum focus on spiritual direction and retreats at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Whitney is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500), Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) and member of Yoga Alliance, Hearts on Fire, and Spiritual Directors International. As a trauma certified yoga instructor, Whitney is incredibly passionate about her embodied work with trauma survivors, longing to create safe space for all. Whitney currently serves as Wesley Fellowship's campus minister at her community's local university. She believes in offering embodied soul care resources for all bodies - regardless of experience, age, size, shape, gender, sexual orientation, or physical ability.
